WhatsApp now lets you search messages by date across Android platforms

Today, announced a new search function for Android users that will allow users to jump to a specific date within chats. This will make it easier to find out what you or a contact said on a certain day, especially if you've forgotten the content of the conversation. Tap the contact or group name in a chat to use this feature. From there, select "Search", and you will see a calendar logo. Depending on your platform, this logo may be found at different locations on your screen. On Mac desktop and Android, for example, it's beside the search bar at the top. In iOS, it's located right above the keyboard on the right. From there, select the date you want to navigate to, and the chat window will jump right to it. If no messages were sent on the selected date, it will bring you to messages sent and received on the nearest date. Now, this feature is "new" in a sense that WhatsApp is announcing for Android today. However, WhatsApp-focused site WABetaInfo when it first appeared in a beta for the Web version. Also, this feature has already been working on non-beta WhatsApp clients on iOS, Mac desktop and WhatsApp Web versions. WhatsApp said that it's "rolling out now on Android devices", which suggests that some Android users may not see it yet. In HWZ trials, we can confirm that it's available on Android phones right now. Brand new or not, it's a good addition to WhatsApp, and will come in handy when disputes surrounding questions like "Didn't you forget my birthday last year?" occur.
