Good news for Easties: Uncle Lee Confectionery will be setting up shop at Jewel Changi Airport soon! A post shared by Uncle Lee Confectionery (@uncleleeconfectionery) The popular old-school bakery, which has over 30,000 followers on Instagram, recently announced the opening of their new kiosk. It will officially launch on 1 August 2024, serving as a pick-up location for online orders too. Image credit: @uncleleeconfectionery Uncle Lee Confectionery started as a humble neighbourhood bakery at Tanglin Halt, Hong Ann Confectionery, in 1986. Many years later, he rebranded his bakery to Uncle Lee Confectionery and shifted his operations to Jalan Pisang in Bugis. Today, you can shop his bakes online and at his Bugis store, and very soon, you can drop by Jewel for your sweet tooth cravings! We’re big fans of their Kaya Cake, priced at $21 for six-inch and $30 for eight-inch. You get a light and fluffy pandan sponge, stacked between house-made pandan kaya custard. Another classic is the Nostalgic Buttercream Cake, available in three flavours: Peanut, Chocolate Rice, and Rainbow Chocolate. Each six-inch round costs $15, while an eight-inch cake is priced at $22. We recommend the Peanut flavour, where a simple vanilla sponge layered with buttercream is finished with freshly roasted ground peanuts on the outside. Their Custard Puffs, priced at $0.80 per piece, are a best-seller too. These nostalgic treats feature choux pastries baked fresh each morning, then piped with a light buttercream in the middle. Besides freshly baked cakes and puffs, you can also shop their Kopi Cookie ($12) or Butter Cookie ($11), great as gifts or for spoiling yourself. These are said to be buttery and aromatic, with an addictive crisp. That’s not all: to celebrate the opening, enjoy a 15% discount when you order online, by using the code THANKYOU15 during checkout! We’ll update this post when we get more details on their Jewel launch.
