Smart is making a comeback in Singapore. The brand recently previewed the Smart #1 Pro+ and Smart #1 Brabus cars ahead of its official launch later this year. Those old enough to remember Smart will remember the brand most for its compact city cars – particularly the Fortwo. That philosophy hasn't changed as the company is still focused on making compact cars suited for city driving. The Smart #1 is a small-ish all-electric crossover SUV that is roughly the size of and . . Although the #1 Pro+ is the "base" model, its performance is quite remarkable. It's rear-wheel drive and has . This is enough to get it from a standstill to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds, which is pretty quick. It has a 66kWh battery, which develops a claimed range of over 400km. The #1 Brabus has dual motors and is all-wheel drive. Thanks to its additional motor, . To handle the additional power, the #1 Brabus has a specially-tuned chassis and larger brakes. There are also minor tweaks to the interior so owners know they are driving something that is special. It still has a 66kWh battery, but Smart claims it can still manage around 400km on a full charge. Both variants will support up to 150kW charging, which means you can get from . Their interiors will also be largely similar. Both variants will have a 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 12.8-inch infotainment display. The #1 Brabus, however, will have a sporty-looking Alcantara steering wheel and metal pedals. Smart and Cycle & Carriage did not unveil specific pricing and availability details at the event.
