At the Paris Olympics, it has been hard not to break into a sweat, even for those not competing. Climate change made its presence felt as temperatures rose 3 deg C or 4 deg C above what they were the last time Paris hosted the Games a century ago. Table tennis and badminton players had to use ice packs to cool down, soccer teams took mandatory cooling breaks, and cold-water baths and air-conditioned changing rooms brought much-needed relief.
