Samsung's Ballie robot now has a projector to play videos and entertain pets

, is about as close as we can get to having a mini BB-8 robot following us around. During the initial launch, Ballie was a simple robot with flashing light indicators, but it has now been and a slightly different design.  Gone is the perfectly round exterior, with the new version looking more like a wheel rolling around with a middle track that houses the projector. It might not be the cutest design choice, but it's a sound one, allowing for Ballie to be able to project videos and images not only straight ahead, but even up on the ceiling if so desired.  In a video played at Samsung's keynote, Ballie was shown texting the homeowner to notify her that it was patrolling and checking up on the dog at home, with the owner replying for Ballie to feed the dog some snacks, and play a video to keep him entertained. And of course, Ballie managed to instruct the smart pet feeder to dispense some food before beaming a video of a bird to the dog.  More than that, Ballie was also shown to be able to beam video calls and workout videos, making it a handy little projector to have around, especially for those of us who might like to lie in bed and have our shows playing on our ceiling.  While it was an entertaining video, there's no new information on whether Ballie will ever come to market. But for now, we can dream of having a smart little yellow robot following us around and welcoming us home at the door.
