Samsung launches 2024 Odyssey, ViewFinity, and Smart Monitor lineups in Singapore

First teased in , Samsung has finally launched their 2024 core monitor offerings, consisting of the made for gamers, the ones for creative professionals, and range for day-to-day entertainment and Smart TV functions. Here, we’ve compiled what is new with each series. Samsung adds two new OLED gaming monitors to its Odyssey series. First is the (G80SD), a 32-inch, 4K resolution, 240Hz refresh rate panel with 0.03ms grey-to-grey response time. The second is (G60SD), with a smaller 27-inch real estate, same 4K resolution, higher 360Hz refresh rate, and 0.03ms GtG response time. Both offer 250-nits brightness (typical) and FreeSync Premium Pro (for GPU and display panel syncing). The OLED G8 has an NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, which is also found in that uses AI smarts to upscale content into nearly 4K resolution when it’s using Samsung Gaming Hub.  Both models have Samsung , a proprietary pulsating heat pipe that counters OLED burn-ins. Also available is , where a coolant helps diffuse heat (up to five times more effectively than conventional graphite sheet cooling). In AV Mode, the monitors also offer Logo Detection, which lowers brightness to prevent burn-ins by static images. Also new is for use during the day, and a low-reflection coating that uses specialised hard-coating to reduce trade-offs between gloss and reflection. This is the same coating used on and it . To complete its gaming identity, the monitors have for ambient lighting synchronised to its screen (if this sounds familiar, it's similar to Philips' Ambilight tech), and an adjustable height-tilt-swivel ergonomic stand. Samsung’s updated Smart Monitor M8 lineup consists of the M8 (M80D), M7 (M70D), and M5 (M50D) for 2024.  The 32-inch, 4K resolution Smart Monitor uses an NQM AI processor to offer AI upscaling up to 4K, and to optimise voices in media by pitting it against the user’s environmental background noise (similar to what's offered on their TVs, ). This monitor can also be paired with Galaxy Buds true wireless earbuds for , and it also has an for video calling and online meetings. All three new Smart Monitors now come with a Workout Tracker, which displays your Galaxy Watch 4 (or newer)’s real-time health data on the screen even when you stream content. This is on top of existing Smart TV features like apps and Samsung TV Plus (though this latter feature is not applicable to Singapore). M7 comes in 32- and 43-inch variants with 4K resolution, while M5 comes in 27- and 32-inch versions with FHD resolution (1080p).  Samsung’s updated monitors for creative professionals are the ViewFinity S8 (S80UD and S80D) and ViewFinity S6 (S60UD and S60D).  The they come with requires no screws or tools to set up, and all 2024 ViewFinity monitors support . Samsung also packed in features to help reduce eye strain, especially during long work binges. ViewFinity S8 comes with 27- and 32-inch options in 4K solution, 60Hz refresh rate, and 350-nits brightness (typical). For the S80UD model, it includes a new that allows switching between two inputs, and a USB-C port capable of outputting up to 90W to power many of the new laptops supporting USB-C charging. ViewFinity S6 has 24-, 27-, and 32-inch options at 4K, up to 100Hz refresh rate, and 350-nits brightness (typical), alongside a USB hub and height adjustable stand. The S60UD model also has the built-in . The 2024 monitors can be pre-ordered from now until 13 June 2024 before hitting retail at the , , , and major consumer electronics outlets, progressively from . Samsung's 2024 Odyssey gaming monitors will be on display at a Marina Bay Sands pop-up exhibit from 20 June to 14 July 2024, and visitors can by participating in the #Samsung8Quest on-site mini-game.
