Repair in private: Google adds privacy protection Repair Mode for Pixel phones

After to provide genuine parts for repairing Pixel phones, Google has announced a new Repair Mode feature designed to protect users’ privacy and data when entrusting a professional to fix a Pixel phone. In a , Google mentioned the new feature makes it easier for Pixel users to protect their data without having to backup, erase and restore whenever a repair procedure is required. By , apps and personal data are locked down until the Pixel owner turns off the feature. Repair technicians and other third parties cannot view any personal information. Additionally, Google has enabled the ability to launch Repair Diagnostic from the Phone App on Pixel phones. This allows users to test devices for any issues quickly before and after repairs. A user can quickly check if the device functions correctly after any repair procedure.  The is also newly updated so Pixel owners can find resources and information on fixing their devices, ordering parts and tools, viewing repair manuals and running diagnostic tests.  The repair manuals have also been redesigned so it’s easier to follow along, with for the Pixel Fold, .
