Poco launches new X6 and M6 phones under S$500 for Gen Z users focused on gaming

Thanks to flagship smartphones getting more and more expensive, brands like Poco have been gifted an opportunity to make their mark on the mid-range and budget categories. And Poco has definitely risen to that challenge in recent years, with the brand's flagship starting at just S$659. Now, there are even more affordable options in the , and , all targeted at younger consumers and their smartphone habits. The most expensive of the bunch, the Poco X6 Pro, features the new processor which comes with generative AI features. "As we debut the MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra on the POCO X6 Pro, consumers will have the opportunity to enjoy a full range of premier expereinces and accessibility features like generative AI capabilities and flagship-grade memory." - Dr Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager, MediaTek's Wireless Communications Business Unit. With up to , the Poco X6 Pro doesn't lose out to some more expensive midrange phones that might only offer up to 8GB of storage. The phone also has upgraded that's claimed to offer "wickedly fast and fluid gaming experiences". The X6 Pro comes with a , which is a first in an X-series phone, and supports (with an included charger) on its large . If you're more of a Qualcomm person, the X6 comes with the , while still offering up to . Aside from that main spec differece, there are very few differences between the X6 and X6 Pro. Both phones sport a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display that supports up to 120Hz refresh rate, both sport a 64MP main camera with OIS and the X6 has as well, although it's to juice up a slightly larger . Another notable difference is that the X6 model has , in comparison to the X6 Pro which only has for some reason. Last but not least, we have the . It's the , which will mean smoother scrolling and a more fluid experience while gaming and watching videos. The phone also comes with a with built-in OIS and EIS, which can be a bit rare to see in midrange phones at the same price point. Another smartphone chip is making its global debut here, with the new chipset pairing with up to storage. There is, however, expandable storage by means of , which is awesome for those of us who miss having expandable storage in our phones. More than that, the phone even has a , which is great for those who prefer using wired headphones. The display is the same display that supports up to refresh rate, and the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 like the X6 Pro. The M6 Pro also comes with a battery that supports and has an included 67W charger in the box. All three phones come with and support for digital payments.
