We have been impressed by Nothing’s solid offerings lately, from the ) which was an Editor’s Choice back in 2023 to which came with improved ANC and high-res certification. Now, the company has revamped its audio lineup and simplified matters by removing the number and offering just the and .  Building on the Ear (2), the Nothing Ear comes with Nothing’s iconic transparent design, showing off the carefully designed internals with clear cases. Inside, there’s a custom with a  diaphragm that Nothing claims offers crisper highs and a rich sound. The dual chamber design from the Ear (2) has been improved with two additional vents for airflow. In addition to LHDC 5.0, which was supported on the Ear (2), the Ear now supports Sony’s , which allows for audio to be streamed at up to 990kbps, 24-bit / 96kHz.  A new Smart ANC (active noise cancellation) algorithm between the earbuds and ear canal, increasing the ANC strength as needed. The Adaptive ANC feature comes in three strength levels, and can supposedly cancel out up to 45dB of noise, which is almost twice as much as the Ear (2).  Battery life has also been improved. If ANC is turned off, the earbuds now last on a single charge, for a total of 40.5 hours, including the charging case. is also supported. For a more affordable option, the comes in an eye-catching yellow design, a first for Nothing, alongside the standard black and white options. There’s still a little transparent detailing along the stems of the earbuds, but you’ll certainly notice the yellow before anything else.  The Nothing Ear (a) uses the same Smart ANC algorithm as the Ear and offers noise cancellation up to 45dB. It also uses an 11mm dynamic driver, although the diaphragm here is made of instead of ceramic.  Nothing has also brought LDAC support to the Ear (a), although the higher-resolution LHDC 5.0 streaming isn’t available here.  With ANC off, the earbuds last with the case. Unfortunately, this model does not support wireless charging.  Both models support features like Dual Connection (Nothing’s take on multipoint), Bass Enhance and more.  But what’s really cool is . Although it’s only available when connected to Nothing phones, ChatGPT can now be easily accessed via a pinch. Users can directly query the AI tool via the Nothing Ear and Ear (a), as long as they use a Nothing Phone (2). Support for the feature will start with the Phone (2), with the Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2a) set to come in a future software update.
