Lenovo’s new Yoga Slim 7i and ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptops get Lunar Lake and a new “Aura”

On the sidelines of IFA 2024, Lenovo has joined in with other tech vendors to unveil new Copilot+ ready devices like the and the . Now, the difference in these laptops is in their name – Aura Edition. According to Lenovo, this means that they were designed as the result of a multi-year collaboration with Intel. According to Lenovo: More than ten thousand users around the world participated in qualitative and quantitative user experience testing. With findings from that work, Lenovo and Intel brainstormed usability concepts that were narrowed down and tested with a further four thousand users who helped to prioritise and refine the experiences. And this helped to form the two laptops with the following “smart” features: : Adapt intuitively to user needs, optimising performance and AI capabilities for activities like work, play, and creativity. Each mode accessible through a simple widget is designed to provide a seamless and personalised experience. Smart modes include: : Provides smooth AI-enabled picture sharing between smartphones and laptops. Users can simply tap a supported smartphone on the screen edge, and leveraging the capability of , the laptop will launch the Smart Share window on the PC and smartphone, enabling simple drag and drop transfer of recent photos between devices. Additionally, both IOS and Android platforms are supported. : Provides simple access to Lenovo’s online support tools and chatbot, offering real-time problem-solving. The enhanced service unlocks access to dedicated concierge-style support connecting users via remote camera sharing, and one click access to voice or chat with live elite Lenovo engineers 24/7 through the PC or smartphone. The new weighs in at under 1kg and is powered by the new Intel Core Ultra Series 2 with Intel Arc Xe2 graphics and an integrated NPU offering more than 45 TOPS. It includes a Haptic TouchPad option with an integrated three button TrackPoint and up to a 14-inch 2.8k OLED Dolby Vision display with anti-glare surface treatment and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. In terms of connectivity, it comes with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and optional 5G support, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and one HDMI 2.1 port. It will support Copilot+ PC features when available from Microsoft and includes a Copilot keyboard key. The 57wh battery has enough power to keep the laptop going for more than 18 hours. The is an Intel Evo Edition Copilot+ PC laptop that has a 15.3-inch 2.8k display in a 16:10 aspect ratio, and is powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 2, up to 32GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. Like the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13 Aura Edition, it also comes with an integrated NPU offering more than 45 TOPS to accelerate AI-driven applications for creators who require AI-assisted computing power. In terms of connectivity options, the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, one USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 port, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, and one HDMI 2.1 port.
