It wasn’t the Olympics. But to my 10-year-old son, D, it might well have been. The pressure of his first swim meet back in Singapore – we currently live in Hong Kong – turned him into a bundle of nerves. He was a whirlpool of emotions – heart pounding, struggling to catch his breath as he fumbled with his swim cap and goggles. He desperately needed something to steady himself.
