While hotplate dishes are a pretty essential part of the Taiwanese night market experience, they aren’t exactly commonplace in Singapore, even among Taiwanese eateries. However, those staying in the North now have a spot to get their Taiwanese hotplate fix regularly: Kiang Kiang Taiwan Teppanyaki. This new Woodlands stall is helmed by Duncan, an ex-hotel chef from Taipei, and Cherry, a former Singapore Airlines stewardess. The couple’s Taiwanese-style teppanyaki has been getting rave reviews online, with many praising its affordable yet delicious fare. The four sets available here come with your choice of short-grain rice or pasta, sweet corn or bean sprouts, and mushroom or black pepper sauce. The Ribeye Steak Set ($13.50) is a highlight. Despite its relatively modest price—for a ribeye steak, at least—the beef is said to be succulent, even as it is sizzling away on the hotplate. Both sauces go well with this dish, but we are told that the sweet and mildly spicy black pepper sauce works best here. 15 Taiwanese Food Places In Singapore Serving Taro Ice Cream, XXL Mee Sua And More If you’re not a fan of beef but would still like a meat dish, then the Chicken Chop Set ($8.50) or Basil Pork Set ($9.50) will do the trick. Meanwhile, those who prefer their seafood can opt for the Halibut Set ($12.50), which features tender and moist halibut fish sizzled to perfection.
