We refer to Mr Bernard C.G. Law’s letter “ ” (July 19). ActiveSG is committed to ensuring that our facilities remain accessible and safe for our users. Weather patterns in Singapore can change suddenly and unpredictably. ActiveSG sport centres here take guidance from the National Environment Agency’s and Meteorological Services Singapore’s lightning alerts, which are also available to members of the public via the myENV app. Members of the public can use the app to check if there has been any lightning detected recently in the vicinity of the ActiveSG sport centre they want to visit. If there is a lightning warning, ActiveSG outdoor facilities will be required to respond immediately and close temporarily for the safety of users. Once lightning warnings are lifted, the facilities will be open for public access. Members of the public can also check weather.gov.sg or the myENV app for real-time updates of weather patterns. The link to the NEA website is found on our facilities closure page on the ActiveSG Circle website ( ), which provides more details on other ActiveSG facility closures around Singapore. We thank Mr Law for his feedback and patronage of our facilities. Senior Director, Centre Operations ActiveSG
