We refer to Mr Brian Lin’s letter “ ” (Aug 9). The project along Sembawang Road is part of essential infrastructure works to prepare land for future industrial development. This involves the construction of a drain box culvert across the junction of Sembawang Road and Sembawang Avenue, which will serve as a catchment area to manage water runoff from the surrounding land plots. While the main construction of the culvert was completed in the middle of this year, there are still ongoing traffic-light cabling and reinstatement works at the junction. The affected area has been kept to a minimum to reduce inconvenience to the public, and the site is cordoned off for safety. We assure Mr Lin and members of the public that the site is not being used as a storage space for unused equipment and materials. We are working towards the reinstatement of the junction, with the works estimated to be completed by end-2024. Director, Infrastructure Projects Division JTC
