I live in Sembawang, and have noticed a stretch of Sembawang Road near Canberra Residences occupied for an unknown project. It has been this way for years, and I rarely see any workers or construction activities there. It looks like a construction company is using it as a makeshift warehouse for unused equipment and materials. Singaporean motorists pay road tax, Electronic Road Pricing fees and certificate of entitlement premiums to use public roads. Shouldn’t construction companies also pay a reasonable tax for occupying roads indefinitely, inconveniencing other users? B
