Chick-fil-A is coming to Singapore — well, sorta, as the iconic American chicken sandwich chain is not opening a permanent restaurant in Singapore (yet). No part of this story or photos can be reproduced without permission from 8days.sg . 1 7 Instead, it’s holding a three-day pop-up from Jun 26 to 28 at Aniplus Cafe at Esplanade as a “market test” before it sets up a local outpost. 2 7 Dine-in reservation slots were quickly snapped up earlier this month, so no worms for those who aren’t early birds. But there will still be a takeaway queue for the first 200 pax, though you’ll have to hurry for that too. The queue will be cut off once it hits maximum capacity. It’s also not your usual payment system for this chikin meal: customers are encouraged to donate $10 to the Community Chest charity fund for their meal, and Chick-fil-A will match each donation dollar-for-dollar. 8days.sg had a sneak peek at the pop-up, and here’s what to expect: 3 7 Chick-fil-A’s Original Chicken Sandwich No decision fatigue here; the only choice you get here food-wise is a drink option of Coca-Cola (regular or diet) or bottled water. Otherwise, the pop-up offers just Chick-fil-A’s most well-known , which is served with fried waffle potato fries. The no-frills sandwich consists of a slab of peanut oil-fried boneless chicken breast with two pickle slices between toasted buttered buns. No sauces, but we’ll get to that later. “This looks a bit sad when I took it [out of the foil pouch],” we heard someone mutter at the pop-up. 4 7 The sauces We appreciate the simple presentation, though. Instead of a soggy sauce-soaked mess, we got a crispy, succulent piece of chicken that was a tad saltier on its own, but you’re meant to pair it with the four sauces that were specially brought in for the pop-up. There’s the classic , a honey mustard dip with a “smoky tang”, and another sauce that’s sweeter. For a creamier dip, there’s the and a . (Not in SG yet: an interesting sweet-and-sour , and that make up the rest of the seven dips that Chick-fil-A offers.) 5 7 You can dip the chicken sandwich in the sauce containers, or — as we prefer — use a waffle fry to smear some sauce on the patty. It amps up the chicken’s flavour, and you can customise it the way you like it. We only wish there were more pickle slices than just two. The waffles fries are fab though — crispy latticed skin-on potatoes good for mopping up the sauces. 6 7 Adopt a cow Those who snagged a reservation slot will also be able to adopt a ‘cow’ — you are given a card to be stamped by Chick-fil-A staff after completing various tasks like filling in a survey, taking a pic at the photo wall and posting it on Instagram, and even smiling at your table neighbour. 7 7 Once your card is fully stamped, you can redeem a Chick-fil-A cow mascot plushie, a cheeky little thing draped with a sign that urges people to “eat more chikin”. Hilarious. Just hand over your completed card at the dedicated cow adoption counter. www.instagram.com/chickenandsmiles No part of this story or photos can be reproduced without permission from 8days.sg . www.tiktok.com/@8dayseat
