Canon’s new Selphy QX20 portable printer lets you bring Instagram shots and K-Pop photocards to real-life

Canon announced the new Selphy QX20, a new portable photo printer that can print both Instagram and K-Pop photocard formats.  Canon's new portable photo printer is an update to its preceding Selphy QX10 ( ). Previously, the older version only supported the printing of 1:1 square-format photos. The Canon Selphy QX20 weighs merely , which is lighter than a standard 500ml water bottle. Since it’s portable, the device runs on a built-in lithium-ion battery. According to Canon, each photo printed off the device would take approximately to complete. It uses a with an added overcoating layer on the finished product. This printing method is commonly used in glossy-looking postcards, event photography, instant photos from booths and kiosks, and medical imaging. Canon said that the added overcoat can help keep the prints last up to 100 years if stored in a photo album. The updated version supports two paper and printing sizes. First, is the original square format sticker paper ( ), which gets you 1:1 square format photos (commonly used in Instagram) with some room below for personalised notes.  The new support format is a card-sized sticker paper (XC-20L for 20 sheets, XC-60L for 60 sheets) which measures . Collectors of K-pop photocards, trading card games, and business cards would know that these dimensions are ideal for their card needs. Customising your print settings and printing is done wirelessly via Wi-Fi Direct Connection and its phone app, ( and ). According to Canon, the app lets you layout and even decorate before printing. It has 35 types of stamps, 25 frames, 7 overlays, and text and paint functions.  The Canon Selphy QX20 will be officially sold in Singapore starting in October 2024 in three possible colours: Dark Grey, Sand White, and Terracotta Red.
