Apple TV+ renews Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and announces plans for multiple spin-off series

Apple is intensifying its focus on the burgeoning genre of monster entertainment. Its streaming platform, , has renewed the series for a second season ( ). But there’s more: Apple has also announced that the renewal includes a multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment to develop a series of spin-offs. “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has left an indelible imprint on the hearts, minds and imaginations of audiences around the world,” says Morgan Wandell, Apple TV+'s head of international development. “We couldn’t be more excited for viewers to not only have the chance to experience even more thrills in season two, but to embark on epic, new journeys in the franchise, as we expand Legendary’s Monsterverse.” There has been a lot of Godzilla content in recent months, including Takashi Yamazaki’s excellent and more recently Adam Wingard’s . It’s clear everyone wants more Godzilla. The production team for the second season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters includes returning showrunners Chris Black and Matt Fraction, as well as producers from Safehouse Pictures.
